About Us

Mirador Glass is a husband and wife team comprised of Bryan and Karen Raskin. Bryan, the glassblower, has been honing his craft since the 1990s, beginning outside of Eugene, Oregon, later becoming well established in Humboldt County, Northern California, and recently transitioning to the beautiful Hudson Valley in New York. Karen’s roles include the day to day business of shipping, ordering supplies, and keeping Bryan on track! Formally an archaeologist, Karen’s new job title of small business partner is a new and exciting challenge.
Mirador Glass began in 2003 when Bryan began blowing glass in his garage. Constantly refining his skills and mastering techniques, the collection of functional glass products has grown to include lighting, kitchen and bar ware, ornaments, and customizable gifts. Mirador Glass lighting is featured in many focal designs in commercial buildings, performing arts centers, homes, and even an epic treehouse in the redwoods!

The Mirador Glass studio is located near the villages of Red Hook and Rhinebeck, New York, right off the Taconic State Parkway.  Designers and clients in the Berkshires, Westchester County, Hudson Valley, Connecticut and New York City can visit our glass studio by making an appointment. While you’re here, you can meet the horses (Colby and Ari), as well as the shop dogs (Jenny, Molly and Noche) and the barn cats (Cookie and Panther).

When not blowing glass, Bryan can be found riding his draft horse, Colby, training for triathlons, or entertaining his nephews with his silly antics.  Karen likes to join Bryan in riding the horse trails, swimming and cycling, and engaging with the local watershed community.  They have two daughters, the eldest in San Diego and youngest going to school in Massachusetts.
